Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Robeson County Criminal History, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Robeson County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to answer it and keep the related correspondence. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the site's systems may collect basic technical and usage details:

  • The device's assigned internet protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device category and operating system
  • Page-view timestamps and time spent on visited pages
  • Any referring website that led to the visit

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages draw traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers may assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route search requests to the selected partner service
  • Maintain performance, availability, and reasonable load times
  • Find and correct technical faults
  • Measure which pages are useful and which need attention
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Robeson County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Robeson County Sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention period, and sharing rules govern information submitted through its tool. This policy does not control that processing, so review the provider's terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Sheriff pages, court portals, North Carolina agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read those terms before providing personal data.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:

  • Search providers that process a submitted query
  • Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that serve material on the pages
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, and this site cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a minor's information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights beyond this policy. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies and should not be confused with data held by this private site. At a minimum, a visitor may:

  • Request a copy of personal information retained about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Ask for deletion of retained personal data
  • Object to certain types of processing
